Reno Aces News Release
RENO - As part of JAKKS Pacific's "Home Run for the Holidays", 3,500 toys were donated to the Reno Aces Baseball club, which in turn, are being dispersed to six local groups throughout the Reno-Sparks area.
The Aces, USL Reno and the Reno-Gazette Journal Foundation have all taken part in distributing the toys.
Aces and USL Reno owner Herb Simon and JAKKS Pacific Co-Founder & CEO Stephen Berman have been longtime friends, eventually leading to a greater cause. Over the last five years, the two have partnered together to donate thousands of toys to various charities in both Nevada and Central Indiana, leaving a lasting impact on the local children.
The 3,500 donated toys in the Reno-Sparks area added up to over $73,000, with items ranging from Star Wars Rebels to a Vivitz Ultimate 15-piece fashion set.
The donation efforts continue this Saturday, December 19 from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the Reno Livestock Event Center for "Christmas on the Corridor" where 1,500 toys and 1,000 free skate admission and skate rental for the Reno Ice Rink will be distributed. The event, headed by the Reno Sheriff's Department, will include appearances by Aces staff members as well as the Aces' beloved mascot, Archie.
A total of 2,000 toys have already been distributed to the Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission, Reno VOA Family Shelter, Sparks Hometowne Christmas Toy Drive, Dolan Auto Group Camp Christmas and the Chamber of Commerce which benefited the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows.
