Madras, Oregon native Jacoby Ellsbury collected 9 hits, scored 7 runs, had 2 RBI's and 4 stolen bases in the 4 games Boston played against the Tampa Rays in the ALDS. Jacoby, batting first for the Sox, hit .500. Boston plays the winner of the Oakland A's -Detriot Tigers series.
Oakland A's 2nd baseman Eric Sogard played for the Elks in 2006 and relief pitcher for the Tigers Jake Reed, pitched for the Elks in 2006 as well. Ellsbury was a member of the Bend Elks in 2002 and earned All League recognition hitting .326 for the Elks.
53 attend Bend Elks Fall Baseball Camp
Three Northwest college coaches were in Bend Oct 4-5-6 for a Fall Baseball Camp. Seattle University head coach Donny Harell, George Fox University head coach Marty Hunter, and Concordia University assistant Jeff Bard were the instructors. The camp consisted of two controlled scrimmages, instructional focus in catching, defense and hitting. The camp concluded with valuable insight into the college recruiting process for high school players.
