Keystone Ice Miners News Release

CONNELLSVILLE, PA - After scoring two goals in his NAHL debut on September 13th, Jacob Coleman must have felt like he was going to lead the league in scoring. Instead, he went the next 33 games without a goal. The long drought came to an end Saturday night at the Ice Mine when Coleman's deflection goal with just over 3 minutes remaining in the third proved to be the game winner in a 3-1 Keystone victory over the Johnstown Tomahawks.

For the second straight night, the Ice Miners got the game's opening goal. The first period was scoreless but Austin Romzek struck just 41 seconds into the 2nd, finishing off a pass from Vito Aluia. Lucas Little added a secondary assist. That was the only goal through 40 minutes of play.

In the 3rd, Johnstown got even when Casey Linkenheld netted his team leading 15th goal at the 5:15 mark, set up by Dalton Hunter and Joe Drabin. Johnstown's Andrew Romano and Keystone's Matt Jones traded breakaway chances but both Alex Blankenburg and Ryan Bednard held strong. Coleman broke the tie at 16:38, tipping LordAnthony Grissom's shot past Bednard. Noah Batis added a secondary helper. With the net empty, Matt Jones won a race to a cleared puck and tapped in his 8th goal of the season, from Taylor Fernandez at 19:53. Blankenburg's 37 stops were good for his 8th win of the season.

With Soo's loss to Janesville, Keystone moved into a virutal tie for 2nd place in the North Division at 41 points. The Tomahawks remain in a fourth place tie with Springfield after the Jr. Blues were shut out by Michigan. Springfield will be Keystone's next opponent, with a pair of games next weekend at the Ice Mine on Friday and Saturday night at 7:30. Friday night is school celebration night with a $2 discount for all students who show up with report cards and Saturday is college night with $5 admission for all college students with I.D.
