Jackson's OT Goal Extends Knighthawks' Winning Streak to Four Games

March 11, 2018 - National Lacrosse League (NLL) - Rochester Knighthawks News Release

Kyle Jackson's goal 90 seconds into overtime propelled the Rochester Knighthawks to an 11-10 win tonight over the Georgia Swarm. The victory at Connors & Ferris Field at The Blue Cross Arena extended the Knighthawks' winning streak to a season-high four games.

"I hadn't scored all game and I was really struggling," said Jackson, who finished the game with one goal and two assists. "Our defense played unbelievable and gave us the opportunity at the end to have the ball."

Rochester was led by a six-point night from Cody Jamieson (2+4) and a four-point night from Joe Resetarits (1+3). Eric Fannell and Josh Currier each tallied two goals, while Matt Vinc registered 38 saves in net.

With the win, Rochester moved a half game behind division-leading Buffalo and New England. More importantly, the Knighthawks captured the regular season series by defeating the Swarm for the second time in four weeks.

"I think we showed some great composure," Jamieson said. "I think some of the young guys definitely grew up in this game. It was awesome that they didn't get frustrated and kept going."

This game started off slow as both teams struggled to find the back of the net. After Jamieson opened the scoring, Georgia answered with three straight goals. Rochester rebounded with five goals from five different players in the second quarter to take a 6-4 at halftime.

In the second half, both teams strung together scoring runs. Georgia fought back to tie the game before the Knighthawks scored three goals in a row to jump out to a 9-6 lead. The Swarm followed with four unanswered goals to regain the lead. Fannell, however, would tie the game and force overtime. That's when Jackson took care of business, firing a shot to the far post to end the contest.

According to Knighthawks head coach Mike Hasen, the players are learning every game this season - win or lose.

"It's 18 games of lessons," Hasen said. "We've had 12 lessons and we've got six more games of lessons to go. Right now we're putting ourselves in a good position."

Jackson believes the trust factor is critical to their success.

"We know that at the end of a game we're going to make the right decisions," he said. "It was awesome to see our group come together and pull off a must-needed win."
