
Jackson takes fourth straight series, winning on Thursday 4-3

JACKSON, TENN. - The Generals won their fourth straight game Thursday, coming from three behind to beat the M-Braves at Pringles Park, 4-3. Jackson finished off their fourth straight series win and move into first place alone in the second half standings at 13-8 (55-36).
Todd Cunningham started a three-run third for the Braves with a triple to left and later scored on a single by Keenan Wiley. Joe Leonard blasts his 6th home run of the season to make it 3-0.
The Generals got on the board in the fourth inning starting with a Joe Dunigan's 16th double of the season. Dunigan stole third, then came home on a sacrifice fly by Rich Poythress (1x3, 2 RBI).
Jackson added a run in the sixth inning an RBI double by Denny Almonte. Braves reliever Cole McCurry balked with two on in the seventh inning. That set up an RBI groundout from Gabriel Noriega (2x3, double) to tie the game at three.
Kalian Sams led off the bottom of the eighth and smoked a a pinch-hit triple against Mississippi reliever Chris Jones (L 2-3, 4.21). Poythress drove in Sams with a single to set the score at 4-3.
RHP Forrest Snow (1-3, 4.41) had a quality start for Jackson, allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits while striking out three in 6.1 innings pitched. Reliever Yoervis Medina (2-4, 4.05) earned the win, allowing only one hit in the eighth inning. Carter Capps struck out one batter en route to his 16th save of the season.
The Generals will conclude the three-game series with the M-Braves on Friday night at Pringles Park; first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Atlanta Braves legend Dale Murphy will make an appearance presented by MobileNation. There will also be post-game classic TV-themed fireworks presented by MobileNation. Friday is also Pat Summitt Appreciation Night; the Generals will wear special "Lady Vol Orange" jerseys, which will be auctioned to benefit Alzheimer's research.
RHP Taijuan Walker (5-4, 4.50) will make the start for Jackson on Friday against LHP Sean Gilmartin (5-6, 3.42) for the M-Braves. The game can be heard on NewsTalk 101.5 FM, jacksongeneralsbaseball.com and the Generals TuneIn Radio Station.
