Mississippi Miracles News Release
After, by all accounts what was a successful inaugural season for the Jackson Rage Basketball Team, there will not be a 2005 season.
The Jackson Rage Basketball Team has recently disassociated with the World Basketball Association which is based in Atlanta, Georgia and will not be playing its second season until summer 2006 with the Southern Basketball League based in Jackson, Mississippi. According to Rage owner, Michael A. Yant, this is absolutely the best option for the team. "Jackson Rage ownership, management, and staff were all displeased with the overall direction of the league, in terms of long-term goals, poor management, and lack of cohesiveness between the league and the teams. This is what's best if we want to bring the people of Jackson a quality product and that's exactly what we intend to do. The people of Jackson have showed their love and support for the team and they deserve the very best team in the very best league. That's what I pledge to give them. I am just as committed to bringing basketball to Jackson as I was in 2004, but we'll do it bigger and better."
Yant is optimistic about the future of the Jackson Rage, especially the association with the newly formed Southern Basketball League which will target cities in the Midsouth Region, specifically, Monroe, LA, Baton Rouge, LA, Mobile, AL, and Meridian, MS.
