Hardhats Improve to 2-0

April 22, 2006 - World Basketball Association (WBA)
Mississippi Miracles News Release

The Mississippi HArdhats improved to 2-0 with the help of a buzzer beater by Detrick White.

Tralling the Hardhats 94-97 the Marietta Storm sank an almost improbable 3 pointer with 6.1 seconds to tie the game. Head coach Travis Gordon then immediately called time out to design the game winning shot. Coach Gordon was quoted, "Give the ball to D. White and get out of his way." The plan worked to perfection. After inbounding the ball to Detrick White he isolated one on one to attempt the game winner. As the clock struck 0, Detrick's fade away jump shot hit nothing but the bottom of the net for a 99-97 victory.

The Hardhats were led by Torris Bright with 29 points, followed by Chris Bacon with 21 points. Mississippi will now have 4 days to prepare for the Arkansas ArchAngels on April 27. Tip-off is slated for 7 pm.
