February 21, 2008 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1)
East Kentucky Miners News Release
PIKEVILLE, KY. - The Continental Basketball Association announced earlier in the week that East Kentucky Miners forward James "Boo" Jackson had earned the CBA American Conference Player of the Week award for the week ending February 17, 2008. This is the second time Jackson has won the award this season. It's the third time East Kentucky has had one of its players receive league-wide notice.
Syracuse product Josh Pace won the weekly award at the beginning of the season.
Jackson - a 6-9 forward from Eastern Michigan - was at or near the top of the Miners' scoring list last week in a tough four-game stretch. On Monday, Feb. 11, in East Kentucky's victory over Pittsburgh, Jackson scored 27 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. He followed that up with two excellent games in Great Falls, hitting a franchise-high 40 points as part of a Friday night win over the Explorers. Jackson tossed in 25 points in the rematch against Great Falls the next day. Finishing out the week in a Sunday night road win over the Albany Patroons, Jackson recorded a very productive double-double of 26 points and 16 rebounds.
Other players under consideration for the American Conference weekly award included Chaz McCrommon, Pittsburgh; Bilal Simmons, Atlanta; DayShawn Wright, Albany; and Ray Cunningham, Minot.
Oklahoma Cavalry forward Daryan Selvy was named CBA National Conference Player of the Week for the week ending February 17, 2008. This is the second time that Selvy has won the National Conference award. He was previously honored Dec. 3, 2007.
The East Kentucky-Pittsburgh game slated for Friday, Feb. 22 has been moved to Saturday, Feb. 23 due to the Carrie Underwood concert scheduled for the Peterson Events Center - Pittsburgh's home arena. Tip-off for Saturday's East Kentucky-Pittsburgh game is set for 7:05 p.m.
