Jackson and Parmer earn Player of the Week honors

Boise, ID (January 31, 2005) — The Continental Basketball Association announced today that Great Lakes Storm guard Jermaine Jackson was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week, while Yakima Sun Kings guard Marlon Parmer was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for the week of January 23 – 29.

Jackson posted 19.6 points and 15.7 assists per game last week as he led the Storm to a 3-0 record, and an overall nine-game winning streak. He also added 5.7 rebounds and 1.0 steal per contest, while shooting 60.0 percent (18 of 30) from the floor, 86.0 percent (19 of 22) from the free-throw line, and 66.0 percent (4 of 6) from behind the three-point line. In a 135-130 (5-2) overtime victory over the Rockford Lightning on January 25, he notched 19 points, 17 assists and seven rebounds. The 17 assists was a Storm single-game franchise record. Two nights later he posted 23 points, 16 assists and five rebounds in a 135-127 (5.5-1.5) victory over the Gary Steelheads.

Yakima guard Marlon Parmer earned his second Player of the Week honor this season by posting 26.0 points and 9.6 assists per game as the Sun Kings went 3-0 during the week, including a sweep of Western Conference-leading Dakota, and second-place Sioux Falls. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound guard also added 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 46.0 percent (26 of 57) from the floor, 83.3 percent (20 of 24) from the free-throw line, and 31.5 percent (6 of 19) from behind the three-point line. In a 116-107 (6.5-0.5) victory over Dakota on January 26, Parmer notched 23 points and 11 assists. In a 99-89 (6-1) win over Sioux Falls on January 28, he posted 20 points and eight rebounds. The following night he added 35 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds in a 141-133 (5-2) triple-overtime victory over Sioux Falls.

On the season, the 2005 CBA All-Star ranks second in the league in scoring at 22.4 points per contest, and second in assists with 9.7 per game.

Other players receiving consideration were Great Lakes' Jackie Butler (24.3 ppg, 13.0 rpg) and Idaho's Sam Clancy (23.7 ppg, 12.3 rpg).
