Odessa Jackalopes News Release
FAIRBANKS, AK - Despite a resilient effort in which they battled back from 2-0 and 3-2 deficits, the Odessa Jackalopes dropped the second half of their weekend series with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs 7-3 Saturday night at the Big Dipper Ice Arena in Fairbanks, Alaska. With the loss, the Jacks fall to 3-4-2 on the season and find themselves tied for fourth with the Corpus Christi IceRays in the NAHL's South Division standings.
After Fairbanks took a 2-0 lead early in the first period on a pair of goals by Anton Racklin, the Jacks battled back with back-to-back goals from Aditya Karandikar and Andrew Palushaj to tie the game at 2 late in the opening period. For Karandikar, who also assisted on Palushaj's goal, the two points were his first markers of the season, and with his goal, Palushaj has now scored in three consecutive games for the Jacks.
Odessa converted on the power play for their third straight game as Curt Rau scored his first tally of the season on the man advantage to tie the game at three early in the second, but after that, four consecutive goals from Fairbanks seasled the deal for the Ice Dogs, as they skated away 7-3 winners to improve to remain unbeaten in regulation in 2011-12 at 7-0-5 on the season.
The Jackalopes next game comes Friday October 14th, as the Jacks continue their four-game road swing with a pair of games in Wenatchee, Washington against the West Division's Wenatchee Wild. As always, 'Voice of the Jacks' Tony Brown will have full play-by-play coverage of both games live from Wenatchee starting at 8:50 pm central time on both Saturday and Sunday on the flagship station for Jackalopes hockey, Classic Rock 102.1 FM.
The Odessa Jackalopes celebrate their 15th Anniversary in 2011-12 and drop the puck on their inaugural campaign as a member of the North American Hockey League. Season tickets, mini-plans, and single game tickets are available by calling (432) 552-7825 or by visiting the Jacks online at www.jackalopes.org.
