NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - Like the last contest between the Jacks and the Brahmas in North Richland Hills, Friday night's game was filled to the brim with action and intensity fought out between two teams who just don't like each other very much. Unfortunately the Jackalopes were held of the scoreboard in a 4-0 loss to Lone Star at the NYTEX Sports Center.

The game started off fast for the Jackalopes as play shifted back and forth at a feverish pace. Joey Musa set the tone early with his mid-ice hit on Lone Star captain Joey Trazzera. But Lone Star would have the last laugh as they got on the board in the first six minutes of the game on a nice passing play in front.

In the second period, the Jackalopes saw thier best chances to score, including Musa's shot that ricocheted off the right post. Connor Hasley made several big-time stops in quick succession to keep it a one-goal game as the Brahmas continue to buzz offensively. Eventually they were able to draw the game's first power play and capitalized on a failed short-handed clear to take a 2-0 lead.

Like the first two periods the Jackalopes had some good chances to score, especially on thier two power plays in the early goings. But like the second and first periods the Jackalopes didn't find the net. Instead it was Lone Star capitalizing on thier second power-play goal in the mid-stages of the third to take a 3-0 lead.

In the first two periods of Friday night, there were only two minutes of penalties. The third period saw 91 penalty minutes as tempers flared and a couple of skirmishes broke out. The highlight fight was between Dayne Hoyord and Fredrick Paine. The two squared off after a massive pile-up and saw Hoyord get the better of Paine.

When all was said and done the Jackalopes went on a five-minute power play to end the night. Unfortunately, a clear by Lone Star turned into a foot race of a loose puck through center. Hasley came out to try a clear the puck away from a streaking Nick Niemo, but the veteran forward got a stick on the puck to swipe it away from Hasley and, side-stepping to his right, fired a wrist-shot into a wide open net for a 4-0 Lone Star lead.

The Jackalopes had a number of chances as the five minute major progressed. The power play soon turned into a 6-on-4 advantage as the Jacks pulled the goalie. Odessa though they had a goal when a shot deflected off the end-boards and deflected off a skate in front into the back on the net, but it was waved off due to the net being knocked off before the puck crossed the line.

Despite the loss, the Jackalopes played another intense game, a fact that has being typical between the Jacks and the Brahmas, especially in North Richland Hills. The Jacks and the Brahmas meet for the final time of the 2020-21 campaign on Saturday night at 7:30.
