LUBBOCK: The Lubbock Cotton Kings season has come to an end, as Jeff Ambrosio's goal and two assists provided the Odessa Jackalopes a 3-1 win over Lubbock to sweep the season series and end the regular season in front of 4,527 fans at the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum. The Jackalopes jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Lubbock after goals by Rob Frid and Mike Sanderson, before Dave MacIntyre provided Lubbock's lone goal late in the third period. Ambrosio collected the clinching goal late in the third period, converting on a Lubbock turnover for the unassisted goal. Lubbock ends the season with a record of 30-23-11, finishing in at least a tie for third place in the Southwest Division. If New Mexico defeats the El Paso Buzzards tonight, the Cotton Kings and New Mexico will tie, but a New Mexico loss will give the Cotton Kings sole possession of third place. Unfortunately for Lubbock, they rank fifth in the Southern Conference, with the top four qualifying for postseason play. Lubbock ended on a high note, finishing off a March record of 6-2-1.
