JackHammers Win in Ten

JOLIET, IL-The Joliet JackHammers (16-29) fought through three ties and four lead changes to earn a 6-4 win over the Kansas City T-Bones (21-21) with a walk-off home run by LF Brad Correll (2-5, 3 RBI) in the 10th inning before 3,892 fans at Silver Cross Field on Thursday night. The win snaps a six-game losing streak for Joliet, who heads to Fargo-Moorhead to start a three-game series with the RedHawks on the 4th of July weekend.

The T-Bones started the scoring in the 1st inning against Joliet RHP Rory Shortell. RF Greg Jacobs (2-5) hit a two-out single and moved to second base on a single by C Craig Hurba (1-2).

The JackHammers tied the game in the 1st inning against Kansas City RHP Dustin Bolton. CF Adam Klein (1-5) led off the inning with a single and stole second base. SS Kevin Rios (2-4) hit an RBI single to score Klein for a 1-1 tied score.

Joliet added a run in the 2nd inning. 3B Isaac Omura (2-3) hit a two-out double and scored on a single by 2B Danny Cox (1-4) to give the JackHammers a 2-1 lead.

The T-Bones tied the game with more two-out hitting in the 4th inning. 1B Damien Rolls (1-4) smacked a single and scored on a double by RF Greg Jacobs (2-5) for a 2-2 tied score.

In the 5th inning, LF Ryan Fox (1-4) led off with a solo home run to push Kansas City on top 3-2.

The JackHammers took their second lead of the game in the 5th inning. Rios hit a one-out single and stole second base. Correll hit an RBI single to score Rios and tie the game at 3-3. 1B Freddie Thon (2-4) hit a single to move Correll to third base. He scored on a groundout by RF Wally Backman, Jr. (0-4) for a 4-3 Joliet lead.

The T-Bones tied the game at 4-4 in the 7th inning. Fox earned a two-out walk and scored on a double by 2B Neb Brown (1-4) for a 4-4 tied score.

The game remained tied until the 10th inning. After Klein lined out to second base, Rios singled and Correll drove a two-run home run over the right field wall for a 6-4 Joliet win.

RHP Chad Blackwell (1-1) worked two scoreless innings to pick up the win.
