Odessa Jackalopes News Release

Odessa, TX - The Odessa Jackalopes, proud members of the North American Hockey League, have signed forward Lev Bure to a tender for the 2019-20 season. Bure is the first tender the Jackalopes have signed this season.

"I am beyond grateful and would like to thank Odessa head coach Greg Gatto for giving me this amazing opportunity, Bure said. "Tendering with the Jackalopes is exciting and a dream come true."

Bure, currently playing for Odessa's affiliate Colorado Springs Tigers 18U, is described as a "smart, quick offensive player" by Jackalopes coach Gregg Gatto.

"We think he can be an effective player for us," Gatto said.

Through 12 games with the Tigers this season Bure has accumulated four goals and seven assists for 11 points on the year thus far.

The 5-5, 134 lb native of Pacific Palisades California plans to be in Odessa next year and that he is most excited about his future development with the Jackalopes.

"I have a tremendous amount of respect for the coaching staff, as they have created a fantastic environment for their team and given players the best opportunity to achieve success," said Bure.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders plus or minus any trades, which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 5, 2018.
