Odessa Jackalopes News Release
(Odessa, TX) - The Odessa Jackalopes' radio broadcasts are moving to a new location starting next season. The Jackalopes and GAP Broadcasting have reached an agreement to broadcast Jacks' hockey on 102.1 Jack FM starting next season.
"I can't think of a better combination than to team up with Jack FM and Gap Broadcasting," said Jackalopes' General Manager, Joe Clark. "It's a natural fit, and it's a stronger signal than we've ever had before, meaning more fans will receive that signal. Also, the fact that 100% of our games will be aired is something that our fans have been wanting. No one will miss a beat."
Fans will be able to hear all 64 regular season games, any playoff games, and any exhibition games on Jack FM in 2009-2010. The broadcasts will also stream online during the season.
"GAP Broadcasting is excited to be teaming up with the Jackalopes," said GAP Market Manager, Mike Gatons. "It's an incredible opportunity to bring two highly successful programs together to serve the Permian Basin. We feel that with the Jackalopes poised to make another thrilling run at the title next season, it's a perfect match to air their games on Jack FM. The Jackalopes on Jack FM...It's sure to be a winning combination."
The "Voice of the Jacks", Brien Rea, will call the play-by-play and looks forward to the larger signal.
"It'll be a great working relationship for both sides. GAP has been a big supporter of the Jacks through the years and we're glad to be tied to them now through our radio broadcasts. 'Jacks hockey on Jack FM' itself says this is a good thing," added Rea.
The Odessa Jackalopes are the Central Hockey League affiliate for the NHL's New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The team will begin its 13th season in October. Season tickets, mini-plans, and single game tickets are available by calling (432) 552-PUCK or visiting jackalopes.org.
