Jackalopes Drop Third Straight in Amarillo
January 12, 2020 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Odessa Jackalopes News Release
AMARILLO, TX - The Odessa Jackalopes (7-25-1-1) fell 7-1 to the Amarillo Bulls (28-6-1-2) in the third game of the weekend series at the Budweiser Bull Pen on Sunday.
The Bulls took a 2-0 lead in the first period thanks to back-to-back goals by Noah Carlin who scored in the first two minutes and the final two minutes of the first period.
The second period saw Amarillo flex their special teams muscle as three of their four goals were scored on special teams in the second period. This included two power-play goals and one short-handed goal that enabled the Bulls to take a 6-0 lead going into the third period.
Jackalopes netminder Zach Stern came out after the second period and the third saw Emergency Backup Goaltender Patrick Egdorf make his North American Hockey League debut. Egdorf made eight saves on nine shots sent his way as the Bulls extended their lead to 7-0 in the late stages of the third.
The Jackalopes answered about a minute later with a power-play goal of their own, as Jack Rudin found himself the recipient of a nice pass in the slot from Mark Gordon. Rudin's hard wrist-shot found its way into the back of the net. Rudin's third of the year denied Amarillo goaltender Charlie Glockner his eight shutout.
Despite the loss, the Jackalopes were able to break through on the power play, something they have been working toward in the first few weeks of the new year.
They will get ready for another weekend road series when they travel to Topeka for a two-game set with the Pilots, starting next Friday.
