October 9, 2005 - Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL)
New Jersey Revolution News Release
The Great Lakes Indoor Football League is excited to announce its sixth team, which guarantees the league's April 2006 kickoff. The New York/New Jersey Revolution are based in New York, NY, but will play their entire 2006 schedule on the road. The team plans to play home games in the 2007 GLIFL season, and will use the 2006 season to prepare its roster for when they are at home.
The team is owned by Champion Sports and Entertainment Management, and has experience with various professional sports. The team's roster will be stocked with players from the New York/New Jersey area, as well as potentially from outlying states (Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland, Delaware).
The league is excited to have a group as dedicated as Champion Management on board for its inaugural season. Founding partner of the GLIFL Mr. Jeff Spitaleri notes "It takes an incredible amount of dedication to start a traveling professional football team. We are excited to have Champion Sports on board with us. We will help them in finalizing their agreement to play home games in 2007, while they play a full league schedule on the road. I am confident they will be a quality franchise and a quality opponent in the GLIFL."
The Great Lakes Indoor Football League will begin play in April 2006. The Revolution join the Lehigh Valley (PA) Outlawz, the Port Huron (MI) Pirates, the Battle Creek (MI) Crunch, the Marion (OH) Mayhem, and the Rochester (NY) Raiders.
