JOLIET, IL - The Joliet JackHammers have decided they are not done having fun yet for the season. On Wednesday, November 25 the Orange Crush will be hosting "Block" Wednesday to support the Northern Illinois Food Bank. It's going to be a good old fashion street party to kick-off your holiday weekend!
The festivities will start at 3:00pm and run until around 7:00pm with the event taking place right on Mayor Art Schultz Drive in front of Silver Cross Field. The event is being done not only to have a great time but to help raise funds and collect products for the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Tickets for the event are $10 for adults and $5 for kids but, that ticket price will be waived with the donation of 2 non-perishable food items per person.
Food, beer, soda, and wine will be available, with a wristband being able to be purchased to cover your beverages for the entire event! There will be a Bean Bag and Stick Ball Tourney along with a bonfire, a pie eating contest, 50/50 raffles, silent auction, ProShop Sale, hayrides and a bat burning with a blessing for 2010. For everyone's entertainment a DJ will be playing some tunes and for a small donation you can even catch a glimpse of a "Man Eating Turkey."
"Block Wednesday is going to be a great time to get together and have a few beverages and collect some much needed dollars and food items for the Food Bank," states Jamie Toole, EVP/GM of the JackHammers. "With everything we have planned we are sure that it will kick off everyone's Thanksgiving Day Weekend with a whole lot of fun and a warm feeling that you helped someone out."
Tickets for this event can be purchased by stopping by the JackHammers office Monday-Friday from 9:00-5:30 or by purchasing them over the phone on a credit card.

The Joliet JackHammers 2010 Home Opener will be Friday, May 28th at 7:10pm against the Lake County Fielders, one of two Northern League expansion teams.
