It may only be August, but the RP Funding Center in Lakeland is already looking a little like the professional indoor soccer season is already here.

The arena's crew was hard at work this week unrolling turf new to the facility, one that is indoor soccer specific, in anticipation of the team's fourth season in the Major Arena Soccer League which starts in late fall. A complete schedule will be released in the coming weeks.

The upgraded "rug" is all part of the team's commitment to improve the Tropics product on and off, and in this case, including the field, for 2019-20 home games.

"We're literally investing in every aspect of our operation, starting with all the star free agents that we have signed like Gordy Gurson, Drew Ruggles, Joey Tavernese, Ricardo Caravalho, Victor Baez," general manager Andrew Ross noted. "The new turf will play better and look better for our fans who will be tuning in to see games in Lakeland this year."

In addition to the major influx of top talent, the team has resigned some of its most popular players this offseason including Victor Parreiras, Anthony Arico and Antonio Manfut.

The Tropics will play in the eight-team Eastern Conference which includes the Baltimore Blast, who saw their there string of thee straight MASL championships snapped this year by the Milwaukee Wave, who are also in the conference, along with the Utica City FC, Harrisburg Heat, Orlando SeaWolves, St. Louis Ambush and Kansas City Comets.

In honor of the outdoor Tropics SC recent national championship in the United Premier Soccer League -- a team coached by Florida Tropics defender Lucas Teixeira and featuring indoor stars including Parreiras, captain Lucas Montelares and goalkeeper Hugo Silva -- fans can purchase 200 level midfield season tickets for a limited time for just $99 which covers all 12 games at the RP Funding Center this winter.
