Charlottetown Islanders News Release

It's been a busy but successful week for the Charlottetown Islanders, who will play their fourth game in six days this afternoon when they take on the Baie-Comeau Drakkar at 3:00pm at the Eastlink Centre.

The Islanders (16-7-1-0) have not lost in regulation in 6 straight games, and have won seven in a row at the Eastlink Centre. They sit just one point back of Halifax for fifth overall in the QMJHL. With last night's three-goal effort, they became the seventh team this season to crack the 100 goal plateau.

The trio of Thomas Casey, Nikita Alexandrov, and Brett Budgell continued their torrid pace since Casey joined the duo in the team's top-six. With two goals last night, Casey now has eight points in nine November games. With his two assists last night, Alexandrov now has four straight multi-point games and a six-game point streak.

At the other end of the ice, the Drakkar (18-6-1-1) are coming off of a 2-1 defeat of the Halifax Mooseheads last night in Halifax. They remain one of the top teams in the country, consistently ranked in the CHL Top Ten on a weekly basis. They'll be looking for a repeat of the matchup between these two teams earlier this season, which saw the Drakkar take an 8-3 victory over the Islanders at home.

Ivan Chekhovich remains one of the top point-getters in all of the QMJHL. His 22 goals is tops in the league, while his 44 points are good for fourth overall. Not far behind the San Jose Sharks prospect is teammate Nathan Legare. The Montreal native is sixth overall in the league with 36 points, and fourth in goals with 17.

Don't forget that today is Family Day at the Eastlink Centre! Youth 12 and under are free with the purchase of an adult ticket, there will be a Fun Zone set up in the Trade Centre portion of the Eastlink Centre at 2:00pm with inflatables, face painting, and sign making.
