
Islanders Schedule Six Exhibition Games

Harrisburg, PA â The Harrisburg City Islanders will play a total of six games against a handful of the region's most esteemed college soccer programs as part of their 2004 preseason exhibition schedule, which was announced on Wednesday.
The Islanders kick off their preseason slate on Saturday, March 20, at Elizabethtown College with games against Elizabethtown (1:00 p.m.) and Villanova (2:00 p.m.). The club then travels to State College to face Barry Gorman's Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday, March 27 (5:00 p.m.) before returning to Harrisburg to host Bucknell University on Sunday, March 28 at 4:00 p.m.
The team will round out their exhibition schedule with games at Lehigh University (Friday, April 2, 4:30 p.m.) and at home against Binghamton (NY) University (Tuesday, April 13) before commencing their regular season in Northern Virginia on Saturday, April 17.
The locations for the home games against Bucknell and Binghamton will be announced in the near future.
"We couldn't ask for a better preseason schedule," said Islanders Head Coach Bill Becher. "These are all top-notch programs and we're thrilled to build relationships with them. Combined with our training schedule, this will give us a great opportunity to build towards opening night."
The Islanders will face a host of local high school products in exhibition play, including Villanova's Patrick Gallagher (Middletown) and Tony Watkins (Central Dauphin); Elizabethtown's Edwin Tichenor (Cumberland Valley) and Jeffrey Boushell (Chambersburg); Bucknell's Tom Sherman (Central Dauphin); and Lehigh's Brandon Smith (Hershey).

The Harrisburg City Islanders will open training camp on Monday, March 15, and play three road games (April 17 at Northern Virginia; April 30 at Charlotte; May 1 at Wilmington) before playing their first home game at the Skyline Sports Complex against the cross state rival Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday, May 8.
