(Charlottetown, PE) The Island STORM rounded out their training camp roster today with the signing of 6'2" Point Guard Myron Strong from Memphis, Tennessee.

Strong, who had an outstanding high school career with Hamilton High School in Memphis, led his team to a perfect 39-0 record in his junior season, the first Memphis High School team to go undefeated in 31 years. Strong averaged 20 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals during this undefeated season. It was the same team that STORM power forward and Memphis native Jeremy Williams played on as a senior, who in fact has been a close friend of Strong's for quite some time.

Williams, who had a large role in the Storm's Finals run last season, had this to say about Strong, "Myron and I played a lot of basketball together growing up. We played together in high school at Hamilton and one year together at UTEP. Myron is relentless on the court......a never say die attitude with a lot of motors, man.........he has a 5th gear and he never stops working at his game"

Strong's best college year came at the University of San Francisco where he averaged 10 points, 3 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and nearly 2 steals per game in his freshman year. Strong also played a year of college basketball at the University of Texas El-Paso (UTEP), teaming up again with Jeremy Williams, winning a Conference USA Championship during the 2009-10 season.

"I first saw Myron in the summer of 2012 at a combine we were holding in Memphis, says STORM Head Coach Joe Salerno. "This past summer I had the opportunity to coach him over the course of two days at the MSA International Showcase at UNLV and really liked what I saw. In fact I offered him a contract before I even left Vegas."

"He is a hard nose competitor who has a knack for distributing and scoring the basketball. He brings a certain level of toughness to the court both offensively and defensively. He is extremely athletic and has the ability to use his body to get to the rim and either score or create for others. These are all areas of the game we would like to improve on as a team from last season, and Myron is someone who could help us do that."

Strong's signing finalizes the 2014-15 training camp roster, one in which Coach Salerno has predicted to be "the most competitive camp yet." Players are expected to arrive next week, with camp opening up at UPEI on Monday, October 20th.
