Jamestown Ironmen News Release
The North American Hockey League has announced the rosters for next month's NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, presented by Combat Hockey, which will be held from February 18-20 at the Troy Sports Center in Troy, Michigan.
At the event, six teams - Dakota, Frontier, Great Lakes, Midwest, Texas and the NAHL 18U Selects - will each play three games. Each team consists of a 20-man roster as nominated by the league's 24 head coaches and then chosen by the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament head coaches and selection committee.
Jamestown Ironmen Head Coach, Dan Daikawa was selected to be the head coach of the Great Lakes region. Five of Jamestown's players will be following their coach to Troy, Michigan. Forwards, Tyler Dunagan, Evan Ritt and Luc Gerdes along with defensemen, Brett Szajner and Dylan Zink will have a chance to showcase their skills at the Top Prospects Tournament.
In a very short period of time, the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament has become one of the most highly-scouted events of its kind. Last season, over 160 scouts attended the event, which featured almost every NHL team and NCAA Division I school. Over a third of the players that competed in last year's event ended up with an NCAA Division I opportunity.
As for the forwards, Gerdes leads the Ironmen in points (31) and goals (19) and also has 12 assists. Ritt has a team best 19 assists while adding eight goals on the season. Dunagan is second on the team with 14 goals while chipping in with nine assists.
On the defense, Zink sits fourth on the team with nine goals along with nine assists. Szajner is the team captain and has scored twice to go along with eight assists on the season.
The Ironmen are headed to Springfield this weekend for a pair of games with the Jr. Blues on Friday and Saturday. The team will return home for games at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena the following week. On Thursday, January 31 at 11am, the Ironmen will take on the Soo Eagles in the Annual School Day Game where area schools will be in attendance. Jamestown will also play host to the Eagles on Friday February 1 at 7pm while taking on the Port Huron Fighting Falcons on Saturday, February 2 at 5pm at JSBA.
