Brett Winkler has been named Media Relations Manager of the Milwaukee Iron, Vice President and General Manager Jason Clark announced today. He will assume his new responsibilities effective immediately.
Winkler has been with the Iron since the inaugural season began in March and had previously served as a media relations assistant for the team. During that time he also acted as the compliance officer for the arenafootball2 league office.
A native of Fond du Lac, Wis., Winkler earned a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2009. Prior to joining the Iron, he worked as a game night public relations assistant for the Milwaukee Bucks from 2007 to 2009.
The Iron (5-8) have three regular season games remaining in their quest for an af2 playoff berth, all against teams in the American Conference playoff hunt. Milwaukee's next two games will be on the road against Midwest Division rivals, starting with the Iowa Barnstormers (9-4) on Saturday, July 11 followed by the Green Bay Blizzard (8-5) on Friday, July 17 before coming home to face the Albany Firebirds (6-7) on July 24.
