
Iron Add Five To 2010 Roster

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Iron of the Arena Football League announced today that they have added five players to their 2010 roster. The Iron bulked their roster with the addition of lineman Casper Brinkley and wide receiver/defensive backs Alvin Ray Jackson, Michael Maciejewski, LeRico Mathis and Emery Sammons.
Casper Brinkley, OL/DL, 6'3", 260, South Carolina
Brinkley, 24, comes to the Iron after spending two seasons with the Carolina Panthers of the NFL as a member of their practice squad. Originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2008, Brinkley spent the final 13 regular-season games and the postseason on the Panthers practice squad.
The twin brother of NFL linebacker Jasper Brinkley, Casper spent the final two seasons of his collegiate career with the South Carolina Gamecocks after transferring from Georgia Military College. Over his two seasons he started 25 games between defensive end and linebacker making 103 tackles, 10 sacks and two forced fumbles.
Alvin Ray Jackson, WR/DB, 6'1", 195, Albany St.
Jackson, 29, comes to the Iron after spending two seasons in the arenafootball2. In 2009 he played for the Albany Firebirds where he had 99 catches for 1,123 yards and 25 touchdowns as a wide receiver and 51 tackles, eight interceptions, four fumble recoveries and three defensive touchdowns in 16 games. Prior to the Firebirds he played in 10 games for the South Georgia Wildcats in 2008 where he had 10 receptions for 124 yards and three touchdowns.
Michael Maciejewski, WR/DB, 6'0", 200, Brockport
Maciejewski comes to Milwaukee after playing 2009 with the Rochester Raiders of the CIFL where he played in all 14 games, making 43 receptions for 470 yards. In 2008, Maciejewski spent the season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL but did not play after suffering an injury during training camp. He attended SUNY Brockport where he was the first player in school history to start both ways as a wide receiver and defensive back. He also led the team in receiving his senior season with 41 receptions for 673 yards and seven touchdowns.
LeRico Mathis, WR/DB, 5'11", 185, Memphis
Mathis, 23, comes to the Iron after a successful career at the University of Memphis where he started as a defensive back. In his senior season in 2008, Mathis had 68 tackles and three interceptions to follow up his junior season where he had 48 tackles and three interceptions in 13 games. Prior to transferring to Memphis, Mathis spent his first two collegiate seasons with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College where he became a Top 100 ranked Junior College prospect by Rivals.com.
Emery Sammons, WR/DB, 6'2", 190, Norfolk St.
Sammons signs with the Iron after playing last season with the Manchester Wolves of the arenafootball2. With the Wolves, Sammons had 102 receptions for 1,446 yards and 26 touchdowns in 14 games. With his performance in 2009, Sammons was named a Second-Team All-af2 wide receiver.
The Milwaukee Iron have ascended to the highest level of Arena Football as a member of the Arena Football League. Downtown Milwaukee and the Bradley Center will come alive as the Iron play host to legendary AFL teams such as the Iowa Barnstormers, Tampa Bay Storm, Arizona Rattlers, Chicago Rush, Utah Blaze, Cleveland Gladiators, Orlando Predators and more.
