Chicago Rush News Release

December 29, 2005 - The Chicago Rush has signed former University of Iowa and Hinsdale South wide receiver Kevin Kasper to a two-year contract, the team announced today. Kasper will play offensive specialist for the Rush.

"We are excited to see what Kevin can do during training camp," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "He is an accomplished athlete who had a great career at Iowa and owns a Super Bowl ring from his time in the NFL. He will be a great addition to the receiving corps."

Kasper (6-1, 200, Iowa), a Naperville resident, joins the Rush after four years in the NFL and a record-setting career at the University of Iowa. The former walk-on earned a starting spot with the Hawkeyes and went on to set Iowa records for receptions in a game (13), season (82) and career (157). A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Kasper was named team co-MVP and Second Team All-Big 10 as a senior, grabbing 82 passes for 1,010 yards and seven touchdowns and leading the conference in receptions per game.

Drafted in the sixth round of the 2001 NFL draft by the Denver Broncos, Kasper spent the past four seasons in the NFL, playing with the Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals and New England Patriots, where he won a Super Bowl ring last season. In 38 career games, Kasper caught 24 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns, and returned 77 kickoffs for 1,869 yards.

The Rush and the AFL will celebrate 20 seasons of fan-friendly football when Chicago opens the 2006 season Sunday, January 29, in Denver against John Elway's defending-champion Colorado Crush. The Rush home opener is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 3, against the New York Dragons. Fans interested in purchasing season or group tickets for 2006 can call the Rush at (877) RUSH-TIX or visit the team's Web site, www.chicagorush.com.
