Washington Kastles News Release
The Washington Kastles are thrilled to announce that the team will be moving to a new home on the Southwest Waterfront for at least the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Today's announcement marks the culmination of months of speculation as to where the Kastles' new stadium would be. "Kastles Stadium at The Wharf" will take the Kastles' tradition of memorable summer nights of world-class tennis to a new level for spectators. Located at 800 Water Street, SW, on the site formerly occupied by Hogates Restaurant, Kastles Stadium at The Wharf will feature spectacular views of the Washington Monument, the Jefferson Memorial and the Potomac River. The new location will enhance the viewing experience for fans who already consider the Kastles' home one of the most intimate, exciting tennis venues in the country.
Located at 800 Water Street, SW, Kastles Stadium at The Wharf is easy to get to with underground and ample adjacent parking and two Metro stations (L'Enfant Plaza and Waterfront) nearby!
"As a native Washingtonian, I am committed to investing in our community and, through the Kastles, hope to create lifelong memories for people throughout our region," said team owner Mark Ein. "We are excited to bring the Kastles and lots of other entertaining events to our spectacular new home in Southwest Washington and are thrilled to be part of the rebirth of that part of town. We know our fans will be treated to great summer nights in one of the most unique venues anywhere." With summer around the corner, the Kastles' 2011 season is shaping up to be better than ever. Already the team boasts a trio of tennis' top talent in Venus, Serena and newcomer Sam Querrey. After the upcoming World TeamTennis Roster Draft on March 15, 2011, where teams select the remainder of their players, the Kastles are confident they will be a strong contender for the 2011 World TeamTennis Championship. Back by popular demand, Anna Kournikova and John McEnroe will also return DC to do battle against the 2011 Kastles this July.

While the Kastles' summer season will continue to be the feature event at Kastles Stadium at The Wharf, the stadium will remain up during the offseason and play host to other exciting programming such as concerts, festivals and movie nights. In addition, the stadium will continue to be a central part of the Kastles' tradition of community involvement. As in past seasons, the team will use Kastles Stadium to host a number of clinics for underprivileged children led by the likes of Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Anna Kournikova, coach Murphy Jensen and the whole Kastles team. Over the past three seasons, the Kastles have donated over 6,000 match tickets, 3,000 tennis rackets, cash grants, and other donations totaling $500,000 to local charities, youth groups and military organizations.
