Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The BlueClaws snapped their three-game winning streak with an extra-innings loss, 4-3 to Kannapolis Friday night.

A bloop single in the 10th inning by Chris Curley scored Bill Rice from second base after he led the inning off with a double. That gave Kannapolis a 4-3 lead, and Lakewood was unable to score a run in the bottom of the 10th to tie it despite getting two runners aboard before Miguel Alvarez popped out to third base to end the ballgame.

Lakewood tied the game in the 7th inning with a two-run triple from Trey Ford. Kelly Dugan walked to put runners at first and third base with no outs in a 3-3 game for Maikel Franco. Franco lined to third base and Josh Ludy followed with a grounder into a double play to end the inning with the BlueClaws unable to push Ford across for the lead.

The BlueClaws will host Kannapolis in the final game of the series Saturday night at FirstEnergy Park. Lakewood will send Moises Rivas (2-2, 5.46) to the mound to battle Intimidators' lefty Euclides Leyer (1-0, 1.80).

First pitch for Saturday's game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Listen to all the action on WOBM 1160-AM and WOBM 1310-AM beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the BlueClaws Beat pre-game show.
