Dayton Dutch Lions News Release

DAYTON, Ohio - The Dayton Dutch Lions FC and sponsor ScoutForAll are bringing former Dutch National player Bryan Roy as the first SFA World Star to Dayton for two youth clinics on Friday July 20 and Saturday July 21.

The clinics include an introduction and photo opportunity with Roy, as he demonstrates and teaches dribbling skills and moves, such as the ones he instructs to players in the Netherland's well-known Ajax Academy. Roy is currently a youth coach for the reserve team of one of the most prestigious academies in the world: Ajax Amsterdam.

Roy, 42, is known as one of the world's best left winger who came up through the youth system of Ajax Amsterdam and made his debut in 1987 under Dutch legend Johan Cruijiff. Roy played six years with a highly talented group with players like Marco van Basten, Frank Rijkaard, Ronald Koemen, Dennis Bergkamp, Edgar Davids, Gerald Vanenburg, Frank and Ronald de Boer and Patrick Kluivert.

Roy also played 32 times for the Dutch National Team including two World Cups (1990 and 1994) and one European Championship (1992) scoring nine goals in total. In 1993, Roy was transferred from Ajax to Foggia in Italy. From 1994 to 1997, he played for Nottingham Forest in the Premier League of England before transferring in 1997 to Hertha BSC in Berlin, Germany until 2000, and finishing his career for NAC Breda in Holland in 2001.
