Brooklyn Aviators News Release
BROOKLYN, NY - JAN. 13, 2011 -- New York Aviators defenseman David Inman was called up today to the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL. Inman, who is in his first season of professional hockey, played in 25 games this season for the Aviators scoring five goals and eights assists for 13 points.
"We congratulate David on taking this next step in his career," said Aviators Coach Rob Miller. "He has worked extremely hard this season so it's not a surprise that his play was noticed. Although we will miss him on the blue line, we are confident that the rest of our defensemen will step-up their game in his absence."
Prior to joining the Aviators, Inman played collegiately for Yale in the ECAC (NCAA Division 1) where he score five points in 51 games during his career. Previously he played with the U.S National Junior Development Team in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The San Diego, CA product is the first Aviator to get a call-up to the ECHL this season. He leaves the Aviators in third places in the 6-team Federal Hockey League.
The Jackals are a part of the ECHL, which is the premier Double A League in professional hockey. Elmira competes in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference, and are affiliated with the Anaheim Ducks and Ottawa Senators of the NHL.
The Aviators have two home games this weekend. On Saturday they play the second place 1000 Island Privateers and on Sunday they battle the first place Akwesasne Warrionrs. Both games begin at 7:30 pm ET. Tickets are still available by visiting www.newyorkaviators.com or by calling 718-758-7580.
