Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

San Bernardino, CA - The Inland Empire 66ers used a nine-run fourth inning to blow open Saturday's game, as the 66ers crushed the Quakes by a final of 14-4 at San Manuel Stadium.

The win for Inland Empire sends the Quakes to a series-loss, as the 66ers have now won four of the first five in the series.

Quakes' starter River Ryan (1-1) had an incredible start to Saturday's game, striking out the first four hitters. But walks and a couple of hits forced him out on a limited pitch count with two outs in the second, trailing 1-0. Reinaldo De Paula entered an looked like he was going to get out of the inning, but a weak pop-up perfectly placed between three Quakes' defenders scored three runs and by the time the second inning was over, Inland had a 5-0 lead.

Rancho got a run back in the fourth, as Luis Diaz brought home Austin Gauthier with an RBI groundout, making it 5-1.

The 66ers answered by exploding against Orlando Ortiz and Carlos De Los Santos in the fourth, as they tallied nine runs to take a commanding 14-1 lead.

66ers' starter Chase Chaney (2-2) was solid, allowing just the one run over five innings in the win.

Julio Carrion capped the Quakes' scoring with a two-run homer in the ninth, his ninth of the year.

Rancho (5-9, 41-39) sends Peter Heubeck (0-0) to the mound to start Sunday's game. Inland Empire will go with Joey Walsh (2-2), with game time at 5:35pm.

The Quakes will return home to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, July 12th, when they host the Fresno Grizzlies in a special 11:00am Summer Camp Day. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
