January 28, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
Richmond, VA: The Indoor Football League's 2010 Pre-Season Meetings concluded January 15th after three days of dynamic discussions. Representatives from each of the league's 25 teams met in historic San Antonio, TX, from Wednesday January 13th through Friday January 15th. NFL Hall of Famer Marcus Allen was also on hand to help launch the upcoming season and validate the IFL as America's Premier Indoor Football League.
A wide range of topics were discussed including; the 2010 playoff format, future expansion, budgeting, and the IFL Rule Book and Operations Manual. Productive discussions to develop national TV plans also took place. "Off-season meetings provide a great opportunity for existing and new teams to become familiar with one another" stated IFL Commissioner Tommy Benizio. "San Antonio was a wonderful host city to the Indoor Football League. These remarkable meetings have set a positive tone for the 2010 season."
The IFL is also proud to announce that Darlene Jones of the San Angelo Stampede Express and Mike Parnell of the Billings Outlaws were elected Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the IFL Executive Committee. The league also developed several committees, in which each team is represented, to assist in the growth of the league. These committees include: expansion, finance, scheduling, compliance, and marketing. The IFL conducts its business model after the National Football League. It is a democracy, the teams own the league and each member has a voice.
The Indoor Football League was created in 2008 from a merger between the Intense Football League and United Indoor Football Association. It consists of 25 teams located across the United States from Alaska to Washington D.C. The 2010 Season is set to kickoff February 26th and will culminate in July for the United Bowl.
