
Indoor Football League Announces Week Three Players of the Week

Richmond, VA: The Indoor Football League is proud to announce the Week Three Vidswap.com Players of the Week. The competition picked up this past weekend with eight out of nine league games pitting division rivals against one another. Each week the IFL will select three players, one from each phase of the game (offense, defense, and specials teams), whose play on the field stood out among the rest of the competition. Nine games were featured in the third weekend of play and the following player's performances propelled them to Week Three Vidswap.com Players of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week: WR James Walton, Billings Outlaws
The Billings Outlaws look to be to early season favorite to repeat as United Bowl Champions after a 64-50 victory over the Tri-Cities Fever (0-2). The victory propelled them to an impressive 3-0 start. Walton was exception on Sunday, hauling in 8 catches for 118 yards and 3 TD's. Early in the second quarter, reigning IFL MVP QB Chris Dixon connected with Walton on a 34 yard scoring strike. Later, at the start of the fourth quarter, to two combined for a 43 yard bomb to propel the Outlaws to victory. Next up for the Outlaws is a Monday night trip to take on the undefeated Sioux Falls Storm (2-0).
Defensive Player of the Week: DB Jason Lee, Corpus Christi Hammerheads
Lee and the rest of the Hammerheads defense came up big in a win over Lonestar East Division opponents the Austin Turfcats (0-1) 51-36. Despite only gaining 141 yards on offense, the Hammerheads were able to put 51 points on the scoreboard thanks to a stifling defense and an opportunistic special teams unit. Lee led the way for the defense tallying 7 tackles, 1 interception, and recovering 2 fumbles, one which he returned 50 yards for a TD. This weekend the Hammerheads (1-1) will host the West Texas Roughnecks on Sunday March 21st.
Special Teams Player of the Week: KR Cortney Grixby, Omaha Beef
Grixby, a former University of Nebraska Cornhusker, started the Beef's home game against the Sioux City Bandits (1-2) with a bang on Saturday. He returned the opening kickoff 48 yards for a TD, setting the tone for the game as the Beef (1-1) emerged victorious 53-26. Grixby contributed on offensive and defense as well, totaling 4 tackles as a defensive back and catching a pass while lining up at wide receiver. The Beef will have a bye in Week Four but will return to action in Week Five on Monday March 29thagainst the Wichita Wild. This game will be the first of five nationally televised games on the 2010 IFL schedule. The game will be carried by One World Sports, the sports branch of America One Networks.
The IFL season continues with Week Four on Friday March 19th as the Rochester Raiders travel to take on the West Michigan Thunderhawks and the Green Bay Blizzard host the La Crosse Spartans. You can view live broadcasts of IFL games all season long at www.b2livetv.com.
