March 3, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
Richmond, VA: The Indoor Football League is proud to announce the Week One Vidswap.com Players of the Week. The 2010 season kicked off last Friday displaying the talents of the highest caliber indoor football players in America. Each week the IFL will select three players, one from each phase of the game (offense, defense, and specials teams), whose play on the field stood out among the rest of the competition. Seven games were featured in the opening weekend of play and the following player's performances propelled them to Week One Vidswap.com Players of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week: QB James McNear, Sioux City Bandits
McNear lead the Bandits to a 48-38 victory over the host Colorado Ice on Saturday night. He proved his status as a dual-threat quarterback completing 17-26 passes for 165 yards and 3 TDs, adding 8 rushes for 73 yards and 2 TDs. The Bandits will lean on McNear to lead them this weekend in a match-up against the visiting Green Bay Blizzard who will be making their IFL debut.
Defensive Player of the Week: DL Michael Bazemore, Billings Outlaws
Bazemore turned in an outstanding performance Sunday evening in an Outlaws victory over the Kent Predators 56-40. He tallied 8 tackles (4 solo, 4 assisted) and a league high 3.5 sacks. Bazemore and the rest of the defending United Bowl Champion Outlaws picked up where they left off last season, in the winner's circle.
Special Teams Player of the Week: KR Jarvious Dunn, Kent Predators
Dunn was a special teams standout for the Kent Predators on Sunday. He covered 121 yards on 4 kickoff Returns (30.3 average) including a long of 49 yards. Despite Dunn's efforts, the Predators came up short against the defending IFL United Bowl Champion Billings Outlaws.
