Indiana Blast Launch Reading Program for Youth

INDIANAPOLIS-MorSports, Inc. has announced a program to promote literacy in Indiana's youth. The Blast into Reading Read-a-thon, sponsored by the Readers Are Leaders Bookmobile and MorSports, Inc, kicks off the one-week read-a-thon in which readers document how many pages read each day and collect pledges for the time spent reading.
The program is simple and is offered to youth in grades K-12. Youth can participate anywhere they read. Encourage Indiana's youth to read by offering donations or making a pledge per page during a seven-day period. The weeks to read are September 8th-14th or September 15th-21st.
Proceeds from the Blast into Reading Read-a-thon will be used to support the return of the Blast's sister team [Indiana Blaze] to the women's league in 2003. The W-League women's amateur team will be comprised primarily of collegiate and post-graduate players from throughout Indiana.
From 1997 - 2001, the Indiana Blaze of the USL W-League provided positive role modeling both on and off the field. As one of the most competitive teams in the nation, the Blaze set the standard in the Midwest for high level, competitive women's soccer. The team was sorely missed in 2002.
Participating in the Blast Into Reading Read-a-thon will help bring a team back to Indianapolis in 2003. To participate, log on to www.indianablast.com to obtain more information and a pledge sheet, or call the MorSports office at (317) 585-9203.
At the end of the read-a-thon simply tally the total number of pages read, collect pledges and mail the pledge sheet along with the money collected to:
