Inaugural Fan Fest Welcomes Rising Country Stars, Excitement to Erie Otters' Opener

September 23, 2022 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Erie Otters News Release

Erie, Pennsylvania - Early October Home Opener, the rival London Knights in town, and the start of a new season of Otters Hockey in Erie, PA. Those three things alone would be enough to get any hockey fan in NWPA excited, but the Erie Otters' 2022-23 mantra of 'bigger and better' shines through as the team hosts its first-ever Home Opener Fan Fest - totally free to attend.

It'll be an all-day party at the Erie Insurance Arena, as the Otters' inaugural 'Fest' kicks the day off at 3:00 P.M. - with the Erie Insurance Parking Ramp opening at the same time for just $5 to park - right into 6:00 P.M. when the doors open and the Home Opener hockey fun gets started.

Upon arrival for the Fan Festival, it'll be an affair of fun for all ages, with live music from three rising country music stars (more info below), Face Painting, Caricature and Balloon Artists, adult beverages and soft drinks for purchase, delicious food from Food Truck favorites like E Dogg's Hot Dogs, WeCorny, Kona Ice, and so much more! As the setting sun sets the tone to the start of the game, the Otters will be rolling out the red carpet to have the Erie Otters players enter in style.

Taking the bandwagon stage in front of the Arena are three female artists that are quickly on the rise - Alexandra Kay ("Skip This Part", "How Do We Go", "I Kinda Don't"), Hannah Ellis ("Country Can", "If the World Was Ending", "You Were Never Gone"), and Royale Lynn ("Howdy", "His & Hers"). With nearly two million combined monthly listeners, and quickly gaining traction, fans will be delighted by the dulcet tones of the trio.

Independent country music artists and Netflix reality star Alexandra Kay radiates humility and compassion - and it shows in her relatable approach to storytelling. Kay has seen the number one spot on iTunes country charts with releases "I Kinda Don't", "All Cowboys", and "That's What Love Is". With a voice that's reminiscent of Dolly Parton and Allison Kraus, Alexandra Kay is bringing country music back to it's roots. With over five million followers across social media, and millions of weekly plays on her videos, she is demanding the attention of country music fans.

Country music singer/songwriter Hannah Ellis' journey - and world - is one all can feel at home in. Her voice - one that mixes your favorite flannel, sparkling pink wine, and welcome - is the friend fans have always wanted. Named to Rolling Stone Country's "Artist to Watch" list, Ellis is a reminder than big leaps often come as a series of small steps when no one is looking. Hannah has paid her dues, kept her focus, and kept moving toward something she was sure she felt and knew was right. With over 27 million career streams, she's gone on to write and perform alongside superstar musicians like Russell Dickerson, Carly Pearce, Cassadee Pope, and more. Not to mention, multiple appearances at the legendary Grand Ole Opry, and tours with Pearce, Gavin DeGraw, Dwight Yoakam, and many others. Hannah's latest single, "Country Can", is available now.

Singing before she could talk, Royale Lynn traded in her pony for a guitar and moved to Nashville, TN in 2015. A force to be reckoned with, Royale Lynn has spent the last seven years writing songs for herself and other Nashville artists, as well as touring with her own artistry. Pulling from influences like Morgan Wallen, punk music, and Kacey Musgraves, Royale Lynn's songs - such as "If We All Drove Trucks" - feature beautiful, timeless melodies and vulnerable lyrics. Featured on playlists such as New In Nashville, Fresh Finds Country, Young Nashville, and Apple Music Country, Royale Lynn is keeping that front porch feel with her backyard cowboy-country roots.

The Erie Otters are thrilled to welcome the next generation of country music stardom to the stage for the Fan Fest, and know fans will be delighted and entertained.

Once the doors to the EIA open at 6:00 P.M., the first 4500 fans in attendance will be treated to a free Rally Towel, courtesy of APec and Creative Imprints. Before the puck drops, Royale Lynn will be performing O Canada, and Hannah Ellis will perform the Star Spangled Banner.

Warm up those vocal chords, and get ready for a night of singing along to Sweet Caroline, because with the London Knights in town for the Home Opener, this promises to be the biggest game of the season. Don't delay to purchase tickets, as they will go fast - tickets are on sale NOW for the 2022-2023 season. Secure your tickets for the most-anticipated event of the year or at the Erie Insurance Arena Box Office.

A celebration of the start of an all-new season of Otters Hockey, and a season that promises to be bigger and better than ever before!
