Imperials to add new partners

May 23, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Palm Beach Imperials News Release

West Palm Beach, FL. One of the ABA's most exciting new teams for the upcoming 2006-2007 season, the Palm Beach Imperials, have announced that they will be allowing additional community partners on a case-by-case basis.

"We've been receiving a wealth of interest in terms of our team and people wanting to be involved with us. Everyone, from major corporations who wish to sponsor our team to private individuals who wish to join our ownership group, has been very responsive, and we wanted to give these individuals an opportunity to become involved with our organization," stated Lamont Carr, the team's General Manager and Head Coach.

According to Carr, if the Imperials were to add anyone to their ownership group, they would look to add either a very community-oriented local figure or a member of the rising Hispanic-American population in South Florida.

"One of the things that we stress here at the Palm Beach Imperials is being South Florida's hometown team. To be South Florida's hometown team, you have to look at the makeup of South Florida: Hispanic. The Cuban-American population and the Hispanic population at large play a major role in our community and we would be more than receptive to invite those individuals to participate with our team in some way, shape or form," stated Carr.

To date, the Imperials have set a high standard of excellent having been involved with local area youth, community events, as well as having already fielded tryouts for both their basketball team and dance squad. In addition, the Imperials have already garnered support from many local organizations, and look to be a very community-oriented organization.

Carr finished his statement with the following remarks, "We are very excited about the upcoming season. We feel we have a good group that is committed towards building a successful team that is based upon the people of this community, unlike others have done in the past. We are looking to get all of the area mayors, as well as the entire county Chambers of commerce to support our team and join us in our mission to help the youth and provide fan-friendly, affordable ABA basketball." The Palm Beach Imperials are currently owned and opeated by the Imperiali Organization.
