FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida - The Montreal Impact (9-11-7) ended its three-game winning streak with a 2-1 defeat to Miami FC (4-11-11), Saturday at Lockhart Stadium, in Fort Lauderdale.

Midfielder Christian Gomez (44th) gave Miami FC the lead just before the end of the first half. On a free kick near the 18-yard box, former MLS all-star scored his fifth goal of the season with a precise strike, that beat Impact goalkeeper Matt Jordan to his left.

Less than two minutes after replacing Marco Terminesi, forward Eduardo Sebrango tied the match in the 55th minute. After a cross from Richard Pelletier, Ali Gerba made a back pass to Sebrango, who let off a one timer that beat keeper Matt Glaeser to his left. This was Sebrango's fourth goal of the season and a 15th point for Gerba in four games.

Forward Abe Thompson scored the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute. After receiving a pass from John Paul Rodrigues, Thompson dribbled the Impact goalkeeper to score in an empty net.

"I think we could have gotten another point on the road tonight, but we gave up a second goal that cost us because of a communication mistake on the field," stated Impact head coach Marc Dos Santos. "Maybe the fatigue from the road trip and the physical demand from the Puerto Rico game caught up to us. We were low on the field, we had problems getting up the field and we gave Miami too much space tonight. However, we need to keep our heads up and think of our next match against Tampa Bay."

Jordan had made some key saves in the first half. In the 17th minute, he deflected a powerful strike by Chukwudi Chijindu with the tips of his fingers, on the post to his right.

Philippe Billy, who has played all games for the Impact this season, hit the crossbar in the 28th minute off a free kick from 30 yards out.

The Impact had made changes to its starting line up. Defender Richard Pelletier, midfielder Anthony Le Gall and forward Marco Terminesi all started the match. All three players were starting their first match with the Impact.

Midfielder David Testo received his fifth yellow card of the season in the 18th minute. He will now have to serve a one-game suspension.

With three matches to play this season, the Impact is now 7th in the USSF Second Division standings with 34 points, two points behind Puerto Rico, which has won 3-1 against Austin, and three points in front of the Minnesota Stars, which shut out St.Louis 3-0. Baltimore and Tampay Bay also lost tonight.

The Impact will play its next match at Saputo Stadium, on Sunday, September 19, against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. A few tickets are still available via the Admission network (514-790-1245 / 1-800-361-4595 / admission.com) or at the Saputo Stadium box office.

Meanwhile, two goals by forward Reda Agourram helped lift the Montreal Impact Academy (7-9-5) to a 3-1 win against Toronto Croatia (6-4-6), Saturday afternoon, at Saputo Stadium.
