Illinois Piasa Sign Local Bosnian Soccer Standout Damir Kordic

Pontoon Beach, IL, 9/24/13 - Illinois Piasa is proud to announce the signing of Bosnian midfielder Damir Kordic. Damir was born in Bosnia and moved to Croatia at age 10 where he played for NK Karlovac. He played college soccer for Missouri Baptist University where he was named 1st Team All-Conference as a junior and a senior. In addition, he was twice named AMC Conference Player of the Week and he led Missouri Baptist in goals and assists his senior season. Damir is a veteran of the PASL having played for the St. Louis Illusion. He is also a mainstay for local amateur soccer powerhouse NK BIH.

"This is a marquee signing. We are extremely pleased to have a player with Damir's experience and skill. He is a special player that can beat players one-on-one and he can combine well with his teammates. Damir has superior technical skill and a very high soccer I.Q. Damir Kordic is the type of player that immediately changes the complexion of our team. While Piasa fans will quickly fall in love with his play, opposing players will not be so enamored," said Head Coach Doug Montroy.

When asked, Damir had this to say about signing with Piasa, "I am excited to be a part of the team and can't wait for the season to start."
