
IHL recognizes monthly award winners

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Flint forward Jordan Fox has been named the National City IHL Forward of the Month, Kalamazoo defenseman Florian Iberer has been named the Pepsi IHL Defenseman of the Month, Fort Wayne right wing Luciano Aquino has been named the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Month, and Fort Wayne goaltender Nick Boucher has been named the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Month for October.
Fox posted a total of 16 points during the month of November. Scoring nine goals and dishing out seven assists brings his total points to 21 on the season. His 21 points leads the Generals and ties him for first place in the IHL with Port Huron's Tab Lardner and Jamie Carroll. The 23-year old Kirkwood, Missouri native is currently riding a four game point streak, scoring four goals and one assist during those games. Fox had a plus/minus rating of plus-six and had a total of 39 shots for the month.
Other players nominated for the National City IHL Forward of the Month include: Bloomington forward Don Parsons, Fort Wayne right wing Luciano Aquino, Kalamazoo center Kory Karlander, Muskegon right wing Robin Bouchard and Port Huron left wing Tab Lardner.
It's no surprise that defenseman Florian Iberer came out strong for the K-Wings during the month of November, earning the weekly honor three out of the four weeks of the month. Iberer has been stellar in the 12 games he played, scoring four goals and nine assists. He is currently tied for second place among his team in scoring with 15 points. The 24-year old Graz, Austria native has dominated the plus/minus category in the IHL, going plus-12 for the month and plus-13 on the season.
Other defenseman nominated for the Pepsi IHL Defenseman of the Month include: Bloomington's Scott Crawford, Flint's Nick Tuzzolino, Fort Wayne's Sergei Durdin, Muskegon's Philippe Plante and Port Huron's Mark DeSantis.
Aqunio wrapped up the month of November with a total of 15 points and a plus-5 rating. Aquino had an explosive month, scoring nine goals, two of those being game winners for the Komets. He also had six assists, two coming on the power play. The 22 year-old Mississauga, Ontario native scored three power play goals during the month which increased his total to four, which he leads rookies in that category as well. The nine goals during the month of November bring his season total to 11, which lead all IHL rookies.
Other players nominated for the Aquafina Rookie of the Month include: Bloomington right wing Kyle McCullough, Flint forward Jonathon Duchesneau, Kalamazoo defenseman John Miller, Muskegon left wing Justin Rohr and Port Huron right wing Jamie Carroll.
Boucher was unbeaten in regulation during the month of November. He stopped a total of 110 shots for the month. The 26-year-old Cobble Hill, British Columbia native wrapped up the month with a record of 3-0-0-1. He had the leagues best goals against average for the month of November (1.92) as well as the second best save percentage (.932), just under Kalamazoo's Jeremy Symington (.936).
Other goaltenders nominated for the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Month include: Bloomington's Derek Dolson, Flint's Eric Marvin, Kalamazoo's Jeremy Symington, Muskegon's Issac Reichmuth and Port Huron's Larry Sterling.
