IHL Negotiating For Generals Return For 2010-2011 Season

May 4, 2010 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2) News Release

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Tuesday that its plans for the 2010-2011 season with respect to the Flint Generals are unchanged by today's announcement that a junior team will also play in Flint next season.

"Although the League would have preferred not to make a public comment during this time of negotiations, we felt it was important to clarify that the Perani Arena's announcement about a junior team does not impact the IHL's plans to maintain a team in Flint next season," stated Dennis Hextall, IHL President. "Junior level is a very different brand of hockey from what our league offers and we are confident that the fans of professional hockey will continue to support the Generals. The Perani Arena's management has assured the IHL that the junior team's home schedule will not conflict with the Generals' schedule."

The IHL and Jim Cain, whose company Firland Management currently operates Perani Arena in Flint, continue positive communication regarding the Generals return to Perani Arena next season for their 41st season of professional hockey.

"We (Firland Management) continue to have discussions with the IHL regarding future ownership which could solidify the Flint Generals position and stabilize the team," stated Cain.

The Generals will host the Muskegon Lumberjacks tonight for Game Six of the 2010 Turner Cup Playoffs at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for the playoff contest can be purchased through the Perani Arena Box Office by calling (810) 744-0590 or online at ticketmaster.com.
