IHL Announces Weekly Honors For Week Twenty-Six

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Muskegon left wing Anton Kharin has been named the Pepsi IHL Player of the Week, Muskegon center Jon Grabarek has been named the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Week and Muskegon goaltender Kevin Armstrong has been named the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, April 12th, 2009.

Kharin finished the week posting a total of six points, scoring two goals and had four assists. He also went plus-6 in the three games played. Kharin made history Friday night, starting on a line with his father, Sergei Kharin. He finished that memorable night scoring two goals and dishing out an assist, going plus-3 on the night. The 23-year-old native of Moscow, Russia has played 10 games with Muskegon, registering 15 points (5g, 10a) and has a plus/minus rating of plus-9. Since joining the Lumberjacks on March 27th, Kharin has scored points in all but one game played. He finishes the regular season on a six-game point streak.

Other players nominated for the Pepsi IHL Player of the Week include: Bloomington forward Corey Rutt, Flint center Greg Bullock, Fort Wayne left wing Konstantin Shafranov, Kalamazoo right wing Justin Cross and Port Huron left wing Steve Rymsha.

Grabarek completed the final week of his rookie season scoring two goals and dishing out three assists. He notched in points in all three games played, with two of the three being multi-point games. Grabarek has come on fire as of late, recording eight of his 13 total points this season during the month of April. The 24-year-old Sterling Heights, Michigan native finished the regular season on a four-game point streak, registering three goals and three assists (six points) on just five shots.

Other players nominated for the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Week include: Bloomington center Mike Kusy, Flint forward Maxime Lincourt, Fort Wayne right wing Sean O'Connor and Kalamazoo defenseman Rob Jarvis.

Armstrong completed the final week of the season posting a 2-0-0-0 record. In his home debut in goal, he earned his first professional win and shutout Friday, turning aside all 30 shots he faced from the Generals. He followed up the next night, earning his second win of the season with a 5-4 win over Kalamazoo in a shootout. He finished the week with a 1.86 goals against average and a .943 save percentage. The 20-year-old Winnipeg, Manitoba native has appeared in seven games for the Lumberjacks, posting a 2-1-0-0 record with a 4.24 goals against average and a .875 save percentage.

Other players nominated for the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Week include: Bloomington's Jason Wolfe, Flint's Chad Alban, Fort Wayne's Sebastien Laplante, Kalamazoo's Joel Martin and Port Huron's Larry Sterling.
