IHL Announces Weekly Honors For Week Fourteen

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Bloomington right wing Henry Kuster has been named the Pepsi IHL Player of the Week, Fort Wayne right wing Sean O'Connor has been named the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Week and Fort Wayne goaltender Nick Boucher has been named the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, January 18th, 2009.

Kuster recorded a total of five points in three games played last week by the PrairieThunder. He scored one goal and dished out four assists, having a plus/minus rating of plus-one. The 31-year-old Stony Plain, Alberta native is currently ranked 11th in scoring in the IHL with 15 goals and 23 assists (38 points). Since joining Bloomington on January 9th, Kuster has registered three goals and six assists (9 points) so far in five games played.

Other players nominated for the Pepsi IHL Player of the Week include: Flint defenseman A.J. Bozoian, Fort Wayne right wing David Hukalo, Kalamazoo right wing Justin Cross, Muskegon right wing Robin Bouchard and Port Huron left wing Tab Lardner.

O'Connor completed the week with two goals and one assist in four games played by the Komets. He also completed the week with a plus-five rating and took a total of nine shots. The 21-year-old Brownstown, Michigan native has registered 15 points (9 goals, 6 assists) in 29 games with Fort Wayne. O'Connor's 15 points ranks him 11th among IHL rookies in scoring so far this season.

Other players nominated for the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Week include: Bloomington forward Mike Kusy, Flint right wing Zach Pearson, Kalamazoo center Tommy Lange, Muskegon forward Chad Costello and Port Huron defenseman Rob Cowan.

Boucher finished the week with a 2-0-0-1 record, playing a total of 185 minutes and earned one shutout. He recorded a 0.97 goals against average and a .968 save percentage, only allowing three goals against in three games. Boucher stopped two penalty shots in two games this week, one in Port Huron and one versus Muskegon. The 28-year-old Cobble Hill, British Columbia native currently leads all IHL goaltenders with a 2.70 goals against average and a .909 save percentage in 27 games played so far this season.

Other players nominated for the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Week include: Bloomington's Ryan Ludzik, Flint's Chad Alban, Kalamazoo's Jason Tapp, Muskegon's Clayton Pool and Port Huron's Larry Sterling.
