Ignoffo and Seitter Receive Week 4 NECBL Honors

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Upper Valley first baseman Ryan Ignoffo (Eastern Illinois) and Newport right-hander Kevin Seitter (Quinnipiac) have been named the New England Collegiate Baseball League's (NECBL) Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, for the fourth week in the 2022 regular season.

Ignoffo, who also won the Player of the Week award during the second week of action, continued his red-hot first month of the season. In six games and twenty-four at bats, the first baseman led the NECBL with a .542 batting average and thirteen hits. Ignoffo had ten RBIs, which also led the league for the week, and six runs scored, ranking top five. The Nighthawk also hit two home runs, had four doubles, two walks and stole three bases. Ignoffo recorded a hit in five of his six games, ending the week with three three-hit efforts and two two-hit games. Against Danbury on June 28, he had three hits, scored three runs, hit a homer and had three RBIs in a 7-2 win. Against Keene on June 30, Ignoffo had another three-hit effort, this time driving in four runs and hitting his second home run of the week during a 12-3 victory. On the season, the Nighthawk leads the NECBL in batting average, hits, RBIs and home runs. Ignoffo is batting .430 with thirty-seven RBIs and eight bombs in twenty games this year.

During his junior season with Eastern Illinois, Ignoffo batted a high .395 with seventy-three hits, fifty-eight RBIs, thirty-nine runs and fourteen homers in 185 at bats.

Newport's Seitter dominated in his one start this week. Against Mystic on June 29, the right-hander hit the first batter of the game and then recorded eighteen straight outs. Over his six innings of work, he struck out twelve batters, which led the league for the week. He gave up no hits, no walks and faced one batter over the minimum, earning the win in a 6-3 victory. Seitter was the only starter this week to give up no hits or walks. For the season, the Gull has a low 0.56 ERA, one of the best in the league, has struck out twenty-three batters and given up just two hits and four walks over sixteen innings of work.

In his junior season with Quinnipiac, Seitter struck out sixty-four batters and posted a 6.13 ERA in just over seventy-six innings.
