IFL Week Thirteen Vidswap.com Players of the Week

May 26, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release

Richmond, VA: The Indoor Football League is proud to announce the Week Thirteen Vidswap.com Players of the Week. With more teams closing in on playoff spots, overall play stepped up this week. Competition remained intense for both keeping playoff hopes alive and securing IFL weekly honors. Each week the IFL selects three players, one from each phase of the game, offense, defense, and specials teams, whose play on the field stood out among the rest of the competition. Ten games were featured in the thirteenth weekend of football and the following player's clutch performances aided them in capturing the Week Thirteen Vidswap.com Players of the Week honors.

Offensive Player of the Week: QB Justin Rummell, Fairbanks Grizzlies

Fairbanks fans have long awaited a victory over the Billings Outlaws. The incumbent IFL champions were defeated by the Grizzlies 55-54. The hero of the game for Fairbanks had to be Quarterback Justin Rummell. With no time left on the clock, Rummell not only sent a pass to the end zone for a touchdown, but found the end zone again for the game winning two point conversion. Rummell had quite the offensive showing. For his eighteen completed passes, six were touchdowns and he had 161 passing yards. There will be no hibernation for the Grizzlies as they will be on the road in Week Fourteen taking on the Tri-Cities Fever.

Defensive Player of the Week: LB Justin Harrison, Bloomington Extreme

Bloomington found themselves in a tight contest this past Friday against the La Crosse Spartans. The Extreme kept their sights for playoff contention alive with a 40-37 victory over the Spartans. The Extreme defense did its part in the victory with LB Justin Harrison doing much of the damage throughout the game. Harrison was responsible for eleven tackles. Two of those tackles were for a loss. He also had a sack to his credit in the close contest. Harrison added to the Extreme's scoring as well, returning a fumble recovery seventeen yards for a touchdown. Bloomington will try to bottle their momentum for a bit as they get a BYE in Week Fourteen.

Special Teams Player of the Week: K Chris Nendick, Chicago Slaughter

When Chicago traveled to Green Bay a few weeks ago and upset the Blizzard, Green Bay had to believe they would get payback in their trip to Chicago. However, this would not come to pass. The Slaughter seemingly has the Blizzard's number, pulling out the tight victory by a final score of 50-47. Chicago had more to celebrate then just their second straight victory over their Central North rivals. Kicker Chris Nendick can now be celebrated as an IFL record holder. Nendick blasted an IFL record long 60 yard field goal between the uprights in the Slaughter win. The Chicago Kicker was also two for three on the day for his field goals and three for four on extra point attempts. Chicago will continue their home stand when the West Michigan ThunderHawks swoop in for Week Fourteen.

The IFL season continues with Week Fourteen on Friday May 28th as the Chicago Slaughter host the West Michigan ThunderHawks. You can view live broadcasts of IFL games all season long at www.b2livetv.com.
