IFL Indoor Football League

IFL Week Thirteen Preview

Published on June 9, 2023 under Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release

There are only six weeks of games left in the 2023 IFL regular season and as it sits, very little has been decided when it comes to playoffs. IFL parity reigns and the playoff stretch is going to be fun.

A key matchup starts off the week as Quad City visits Green Bay. Maxwell Meylor has been able to keep the Blizzard alive while filling in for Ja'rome Johnson. But he'll have the task of taking down E.J. Hillard and Quad City to draw one game closer to a playoff spot.

Vegas needs a big win to stay firmly in the playoff conversation. Daquan Neal has had a good season when he's been healthy, but the Knight Hawks have been inconsistent. In order to take down the 7-3 Massachusetts Pirates, they're going to need a big game out of Neal. Pirates QB, Anthony Russo, is coming off an eight-touchdown performance while taking down the Frisco Fighters.

Frisco has come back down to earth after suffering their second loss. The Fighters have still had an incredible start to their season. Now they face a road test against Sioux Falls. The Storm has been up and down throughout the season. This game will be a major factor in playoff seeding for both teams.

The two worst teams in the league battle to see who will get their second win of the season. In just a matter of a few weeks, Iowa went from scoring to 73 points to just 17. For Tulsa, their only win came over Iowa in week six. While playoff implications are unlikely, the game will mean plenty for the players on both squads.

Tucson is back into a playoff spot after a win over Vegas. The Sugar Skulls jumped out to a 3-0 start to the season but followed that with streaks in both directions. The key will be the play of Ramone Atkins as they host Duke City. The Gladiators sit just one game back of a playoff spot.

This game looks to be a possible classic. Two of the hottest teams in the league will square off as Arizona and Bay Area will go at it. Dalton Sneed and Drew Powell are set to battle as two of the top quarterbacks in the league are pinned against one another. Both teams enter the contest on a three-game winning streak.

Northern Arizona is hoping to get back on track as they have dropped three straight to fall to .500. Their slip has them in jeopardy of falling out of the fourth spot in the West. But they'll have to go through Nate Davis and a hot San Diego team to right the ship. With a win, the Strike Force would jump into the fourth conference spot.

The action kicks off Friday at 7:05 p.m. CT and can be seen on all of the IFL's social media and YouTube channel.
