IFL Indoor Football League

IFL Week Fourteen Preview

Published on June 16, 2023 under Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release

The parity of the 2023 IFL season has made the last five weeks very consequential. Every game is heavy with playoff implications.

Vegas is a great example of that. The Knight Hawks have been trying to fight to keep themselves in the playoff picture. They currently sit tied for fifth in the West, multiple games back of the final playoff spot. This week will be a tough test as they host the conference leading Bay Area Panthers, who are coming off a heart breaker in Arizona. Daquan Neal will have to out-duel Dalton Sneed if Vegas wants to fight back into a playoff spot in the coming weeks.

Quad City, having lost two of their last three, will look to bounce back against Iowa. Because of those losses, this game means more than one might have thought four weeks ago. Quad City has dropped to third in the East with Green Bay and Sioux Falls right on their tails. Looking up, the Steamwheelers are only a few games out of the conference lead. The Barnstormers earned just their second win of the season last week as they beat one-win Tulsa.

Sioux Falls will travel to Tulsa to try and get back above .500. The Storm (sitting fifth in the East) is entering must-win territory. If they want to stay in the playoff conversation, this game will loom large. Especially with Green Bay (fourth) visiting Sioux Falls next week. It certainly won't be easy in Tulsa, where the Oilers have had impressive crowds all season.

Frisco has a one-game lead over Massachusetts (who has a bye this week). After escaping Sioux Falls with a win last week, they now travel to Northern Arizona. The Wranglers, currently sitting in the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, are hard to predict. They've had streaks in both directions and blow-outs go both ways. In the last two weeks, they have pushed Arizona to the brink and taken down San Diego on the road. When playing to their potential, they are dangerous.

Tucson welcomes San Diego to town as they look to continue their winning ways. Ramone Atkins and the Sugar Skulls have won back-to-back games and are back in third place in the west. San Diego took a tough loss at home last week against Northern Arizona. San Diego is 4-7 and another loss would be detrimental to their playoff hopes.

The week is capped off with Arizona visiting Duke City as they try to take sole possession of first place. Arizona has won four straight and Drew Powell is back in MVP form. Duke City has the offensive talent to go toe-to-toe with anyone. They'll need to as the Gladiators sit at 4-7 and need a win.

As the 2023 IFL Playoffs approach, the consequences grow. Week 14 features six games. Five on Saturday and one on Sunday. Get all the details at www.GoIFL.com.
