IFL Players of the Week

May 8, 2008 - Intense Football League (Intense) News Release


Corpus Christi, Texas: The Intense Football League Office selected the leagues outstanding Players of the Week, on Wednesday. The San Angelo Stampede Express's Davon Vinson, Corpus Christi Hammerhead's Wali Mumin and CenTex Barracuda's Olan Coleman are honored for their play in week 10.

Davon Vinson, Quarterback for the San Angelo Stampede Express, earned Offensive Player of the Week. Vinson brought the Stampede Express back from a half time deficit, to defeat the Fairbanks Grizzlies 53-37. He completed 19 of 32 passes for 279 yards. He also tossed 8 Touchdowns to three different receivers. Vinson and the rest of his San Angelo team mates look to extend their winning streak to 2 games when they travel to Katy, Texas to play the Ruff Riders, Monday evening. Defensive Player of the Week goes to Corpus Christi Hammerhead Wali Mumin. Mumin played an outstanding game, doing his part to holding the Odessa Roughnecks without an offensive touchdown for the game. He had, a game high, 3 interceptions, and returned one for a touchdown. Wali also recorded 3 tackles in the game as the Hammerheads defeated the Roughnecks 76-7 and travel out to Odessa this Saturday for the rematch.

CenTex Barracudas Kick Returner Olan Coleman earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors. Coleman, his second Player of the Week honor, returned 7 kicks for 151 yards for an average of 21.5, in the victory over the Katy Ruff Riders 79-62. He returned 2 for touchdowns, both for 45 yards each. Coleman and the rest of the Barracudas welcome in the Frisco Thunder this Saturday night at 7:00pm, in Belton, Texas.
