IFL Announces Week Twelve Players of the Week
Published on June 2, 2022 under Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
The Indoor Football League is proud to announce the Players of the Week for Week 12 of the 2022 season. Duke City Quarterback, Ramone Atkins and Sioux Falls Quarterback, Dalton Sneed are Co-Offensive Players of the Week. Green Bay Linebacker, James Brown, earns Defensive Players of the Week. Special Teams Player of the Week goes to Iowa kick Returner, Kezlow Smith.
Ramone Atkins & Dalton Sneed - CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Two teams, two huge wins. Both Duke City and Sioux Falls needed wins this past week to keep their playoff aspirations strong. They did just that with the help of incredible quarterback play on both squads. Duke City Quarterback, Ramone Atkins, completed 24 of 31 pass attempts for 242 yards and six touchdowns. He added 27 yards and another score on the ground. Sioux Falls' mid-season addition of Dalton Sneed is looking like a great move. Sneed was 14/18 for 206 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 33 yards and two touchdowns. Both players were directly responsible for seven touchdowns.
James Brown - DEFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Even after a close loss to Iowa, Green Bay's playoff hopes are still alive. With seven weeks left in the season, a lot could change in the crowded Eastern Conference. Green Bay Linebacker, James Brown, did his part this past week. Brown racked up 11 tackles, one tackle for loss, one pass break-up and one interception. On the season, Brown leads the team in tackles, tackles for loss and sacks.
Kezlow Smith - SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Every game is important. Especially at this point of the season. The 3rd through 6th place teams in the Eastern conference are only separated by a few games. Needless to say, Iowa's tightly contested victory over Green Bay was big for them. It keeps them in that 3rd spot. The 10-point win was partially fueled by the special teams efforts of Kezlow Smith. Smith had 75 return yards, including a touchdown return of 56 yards. One of the longest the league has seen this season.
Week 13 kicks off on Friday night at 7:05 PM CST with heavy playoff implications as Green Bay hosts Quad City. The weekend of football continues with four games on Saturday including another game that could shake up the standings as Iowa hosts Sioux Falls. Catch all of the action on the IFL YouTube Channel.
