IFL Announces Week Four Players of the Week
Published on April 7, 2022 under Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Indoor Football League is proud to announce the Players of the Week for Week 4 of the 2022 season. Frisco Fighters Running Back, Justin Rankin took Offensive Player of the Week. Arizona Rattlers Defensive Back, Kyree Woods earned his second Defensive Player of the Week nod this season. Special Teams Player of the Week goes to Gabriel Rui of the Iowa Barnstormers.
Justin Rankin - OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The Frisco Fighters offense is flying high. They followed up last week's 60-point performance with a 56-34 win over the Tucson Sugar Skulls. That's 116 points in two weeks. With that type of offensive output, it's not surprising to see that the Offensive Player of the Week hales from Texas for the second week in a row. Justin Rankin has been an integral part of the Fighters offense and this week was particularly impressive. Rankin racked up 81 yards on just nine carries, averaging nine yards per. His longest run of the contest was 21 yards and he scored three rushing touchdowns.
Kyree Woods - DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The Arizona Rattlers are off to an impressive 3-0 start in 2022. Even more impressive has been the Rattlers Defense. In three games, Arizona has given up seven points in the second half. Week Three ended with a convincing 43-21 win over the Duke City Gladiators. With the Rattlers defense playing so well, you'd think it would be hard to pick one player that shined. Not this week. Kyree Woods had an incredible night. Woods accumulated seven tackles, two pass break-ups, two interceptions and returned one interception for a touchdown. Kyree continues to impress as he was also DPOTW in Week Two.
Gabriel Rui - SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
After dropping the season opener, the Iowa Barnstormers have now reeled off two solid wins in a row. In Week Four, they defeated the Green Bay Blizzard by a score of 36-18. Iowa performed well in all facets, but Kicker Gabriel Rui put together one of the best kicking performances the league has seen thus far in 2022. Rui converted on three of four field goals, with his only miss being a 53-yard attempt in the first quarter. He was also three of four on PATs. Rui scored 12 total points for Iowa on the night.
Week Five brings six games and a quarter of the way into the 2022 season. Catch every game on the IFL's YouTube Channel.
